The area of the spell is filled with pure light, which prevails over all darkness. The lit area does not move once the spell has been cast. Pure light has 3 effects:

  1. It dispels all darkness spells of equal or lower level.
  2. It negates all spells of equal or lower level with the shadow descriptor within the area. Casting such spells in the area automatically fails.
  3. Shadows and other creatures from the plane of shadow must make a Fortitude save for half damage or take 1D6 / caster level (maximum 15d6) damage as the spell dispels all darkness from their essence. If the caster level if more than twice the shadow creature's HD, they must make a fort save or die. If they make the save, they take half damage. The creatures must make another Fortitude save for each additional round they remain in the spell's area.
