The Meatworker's Guild

"Who is our next claimant?" asked Utadas Tensar, trying not to look bored."A group calling themselves the Meatworkers Guild," said Jeena Ealy."I've never heard of them," said Elahassa Merem, seeming puzzled."Formally the Temple of Light and Darkness, formally the Dustmen," said Jeena."Oh," said Elahassa. "Them.""Oh, Mystra's paps!" Gregory Holmin swore. "Not them again!""They change their name every week," Cirily said dismisively."Shouldn't they?" asked Rhys, with a slight smile."Granted," said Cirily. "Anything's better than posing as a temple ofthose thrice-damned Prime gods. The real sects were acting like acouple of angry tom cats who've had their territory threatened -anarchic tom cats, I mean. Hissing and spraying all over the room. Westill haven't gotten their stink out of here.""Prime gods? The temples of Pelor and Nerull have been in Sigil for over five hundred years now," Jeena Ealy corrected gently. Cirily made a dismissive sound."I never thought I'd ever see the priests of those two gods agree on anything," said Harys Hatchis. "They were united in their hatred of the Temple of Light and Darkness," said Estavan, sounding pleased."The Meatworkers Guild?" Ustisha Cambris said in a thoughtful, but wary tone. "Does that mean what I think it means?""Dear Lady," said Gregory, aghast."He means Mystra," Utadas Tensar said to the Lady of Pain, just in case she was listening in."It's sound business sense," said Harys Hatchis. "With theirportals gone, they must have far more corpses than they know what to dowith. I mean, as long as their products are properly labeled...""Excellent point," smiled Estavan.Gregory looked ill.Ustisha Cambris turned businesslike. "Do they seriously intend to open their group to all meatworkers?""Not sodding likely," Cirily laughed."Should they?" asked Rhys."Shut up," said Cirily."That's like telling the Plane of Vacuum to shut up," said Harys. There was the sound of muffled laughter."Well, no," said Ustisha. "Technically, they can keep their 'guild' as exclusive as they like.""Perhaps we should change that," said Elahassa Merem."No," said Ustisha. "We shouldn't.""We really shouldn't," said Gregory."I'm not so sure about that," said Estavan. "I think it would be good to consolidate some of our plethora of guildery.""Good for you, maybe," said Gregory."Please," said Estavan. "We needn't invite another Great Upheaval."Everyone got quiet. Except for Rhys, who was already quiet."I move for telling old Skall's groupies to try again," said Gregory."All in favor?" asked Jeana Ealy. The vote was unanimous.
