The gatetown of Ribcage is a breeding pit for political upstarts and power mongers. They like to play the game of politics for sport. As these quotes will hopefully convey, law-abiding doesn't connote decency.
"There is no such thing as the spirit of a law. That's a bunch of screed you might hear from a Guvner. The truth of the matter is that it's the letter of the law that matters. What people call the 'spirit' of the law is nothing more than personal interpretation. On that note, I plan to interpret the laws to my needs so much as the letter of the law allows."
- An anonymous lawyer
"Mercy is for the weak. Laws were never meant to be used as such. To write such is an abomination of nature. Laws are supposed to encourage the people to wean out the weak. How else do strong nations grow?"
- Candidate Rivengard
"If you wish to see proof of how laws can be used to harbor and nurture weakness, look no further than Excelsior and Fortitude."
- Ibid.
