Senzi's RewardAs many know, githzerai vocabulary is rife with metaphors and allusions to the fabled deeds of their ancestral heroes. Accordingly, the githzerai word for teacher or guru - rendered as sensei among some human scholars - is actually Senzi's Reward. The phrase refers to a legendary githzerai monk who meditated and practiced his skills alone in Limbo's wildest soup for three hundred sixty years, longer by at least a decade than most gith live. At the end of this time, Senzi was rewarded by a visitation from Zerthimon himself, or perhaps his shade. This parable illustrates both the value of an instructor as opposed to trying to learn everything yourself (for it is said that Senzi learned more in a day with Zerthimon than he had in the previous three hundred sixty years) and the necessity of proving oneself worthy of being instructed. So it is said that githzerai speak of learning their skills from Senzi's Reward. Using this phrase implies both honor to he or she that taught the speaker and alludes to the difficulty in earning the right to be taught.Example of use: "Your skills at chaos-shaping are weak, young one. You must return to the Floating City and seek Senzi's Reward."and"Your swordplay is impressive, gith! Where did you learn how to fight like that?"(Bows slightly in acknowledgement) "I learned from Senzi's Reward, respected tiefling. Only after returning with the egg-sac of a red slaad would she consent to teach me."
