Elemental Staff of Power

An Elemental Staff of Power is a very powerful magic item, heavily imbued with the energies of the Elemental Planes.

It appears as a slender staff inlaid down one side with clear crystal, one side with fire opal, one side with lapis lazuli and one side with polished granite; it is topped with a large diamond within which encaged elemental forces can be seen swirling and mixing. This type of Staff of Power is highly prized by any practitioner of magic due to the control over elemental forces that it gives them.

An Elemental Staff of Power is a quarterstaff +2, that deals an additional 1d6 of elemental damage (the wielder chooses at the beginning of each round what type of damage it will be - fire, cold, acid, sonic or electric). Each round the staff absorbs the first 15 points of each type of elemental damage that is dealt to the wielder.

  • Fly - 1 charge
  • Stoneskin - 1 charge
  • Water Breathing - 1 charge
  • Protection from Elements - 1 charge

    Finally, the Staff has the following powers:

  • Summon Monster VII (Elemental only) - 2 charges
  • Summon Monster V (Elemental or Mephit only) - 2/day.
  • Charm Monster (Elementals only, DC 17) - 5/day, uses no charges

    An Elemental Staff of Power is created with 50 charges. Once all charges are used up the staff continues to function and abilities that don't require charges can still be used. The staff may be broken to create an Elemental Swarm spell on the spot; the breaking of the staff must be purposeful and declared by the wielder.
