Tongue Charm

Anonymous's picture
This charm is a small, shrivelled tongue, obviously obtained from some humanoid creature. Its roughly textured surface varies in colour dramatically, from a rusty flesh colour through to a bluish white. Green and other exotically toned tongue charms are often used, clearly signalling the wide variety of creatures from which tongues are obtained to be prepared for the magical process. Across the dried surface of the tongue, barely visible runes can be distinguished, having either been painted onto it or stitched into the charm.

It is believed that a Signer spellslinger named Amber Sharazin created the charm originally, though the report has never been verified past Amber's insistence that she created it out of her imagination. Despite this, Amber is the first recorded person to use the charm, which can now be easily reproduced by any capable spellslinger.

When consumed, the charm enhances the user's voice while magically diminishing the voices of those around them. In effect the charm functions as a silence spell centred on the user, eradicating all sound within a 15-foot radius. The only exception is that the user of the charm is unaffected and may still speak, cast spells with verbal components and perform any other vocally orientated function. As a charm, the Tongue Charm does not provoke an attack of opportunity when used. Using the charm is a standard action.
