Time dilation

This powerful psionic power allows the psion to affect the timestream itself, speeding up or slowing down its flow relative to himself. Slowing down the flow of time effectively hastes the psion, while speeding the timeflow slows him. The amount of the dilation affects the initial cost of the power, as shown below: Haste Slow Cost x2 x1/10 19 x3 x1/20 38 x4 x1/50 57 If the psion hastes himself by slowing down the timestream, he can maintain the power for a number of rounds (her own rounds, not everyone else’s) equal to her level. Movement, physical attacks, and even spellcasting and psionic powers increase as well. However, any spell or psionic power that leaves the psion’s slowed timestream (for example, casting magic missile or concussion at a non time-dilated target) stands a chance of being disrupted. Each time the psion tries to do this, he must succeed at a Will saving throw (DC 25) or the power or spell is disrupted and wasted. If the psion slows himself by speeding up the timestream, the power lasts a number of minutes equal to 10 multiplied by his level – so a 18th level psion with a 1/20 factor of dilation can make three of his own hours stretch out for 60 hours (two and a half days!) in the outside world. Note that the psion consumes food and water and is affected by things like poison at his own pace, so this power can be used to reduce water consumption or to slow poison. If the psion is maintaining any other psionic powers, they are paid for only on her subjective rounds. If a psion was on a ship that sank, he could use levitation and time dilation to hover over the sea until another ship came along, since he is only levitating in his own creeping time frame. |
