This spell causes the caster to sprout extra arms that may be used as normal arms. This can allow the caster to manupulate more objects, hold many things, pull multipule switches, or even get extra attacks. The arms grow out of the side or back of the caster's torso and in all ways resemble his normal limbs, possessing the same level of physical power, coordination, and grace. For every 5 levels of the caster, 1 additional arm is generated. For every arm added, the caster may make 1 additional attack per round, at an additional -1 attack penalty. Thus, the third arm added lends a 1 bonus attack at 1 strike penalty, the fourth arm added lends a second bonus attack at a -2 strike penalty, and the fifth arm added lends a third bonus attack ata strike penalty of -3. These strike penalties are in addition to any penalties for off-hand weapon use, and all extra arms are considered off-hand. Thus, the normal penalties for fighting with two weapons are -6 for the primary weapon, and -10 for the secondary. The third arm attacks at -11 (for being off-hand, and at -1 for usual as the spell). A fourth hand owuld be at -12, a fifth at -13. Rules for lowering these penalties can be found in the Player's Handbook, under Attacking with Two Weapons. Most apply only to the second attack, and no more (ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting, for instance, help reduce the penalty for the second hand, but not for the third, fourth, etc.). A Light weapon (including an unarmed strike) in any hand reduces the attack for that hand, and the primary attack, by two, but leaves other hands unaffected. Casters of level 12 and above gain the Multiweapon Fighting feat to reduce allpenalties by 2 (leaving with basic attacks of -4, -8, -9, -10, -11, etc.). This benefit ends with the spell. At level 16, casters with a Dexterity of 15 or higher gain the Multidexterity feat, reducing all off-hand penalties by 4 (resulting in basic attacks of -4, -4, -5, -6, -7 etc.). This effect also ends with the spell. Casters with a Dexterity of 14 or less have off-hand penalties reduced by a further 2 points, but do not gain the Multidexterity feat (resulting in adjustments of -4, -6, -7, -8, -9, ect.). The spell also grants a +2 Circumstance bonus to Climb and Swim checks per extra limb. |
