Jerkin of the Brazen Rogue

Carnifex's picture
This piece of sturdy leather armour is a remarkable piece of craftsmanship. Small metal bands and plates are carefully concealed here and there over the jerkin's surface, providing a degree of protection without hampering movement. The armour is designed by the master armourer Goncalves to be used by 'flashy' fighters who prefer freedom of movement to encasing themselves in encumbering metal, and to be used not just to protect, but also to aid in their balance and striking of their foes.

Special: This incredibly cleverly designed armour does not restrict movement, allowing full use of the wearer's Dexterity, and imposing no check penalties. In addition, the wearer gains a +1 bonus to their attack rolls. This armour is designed on an individual basis by Goncalves, and these bonuses represent what a wearer other than the one for whom it was designed would gain, as does the listed cost. If worn by the person who originally commissioned the armour, when the plates are in the exact positions on the body calculated by Goncalves to be the most effective, then the bonus to hit is +2, and the AC bonus is +9. Armour that has been commissioned in this way typically costs 60,000 gold pieces.
