Ethereal Armour - "Depths of the Mind"

Carnifex's picture
This suit of deep blue full plate feels slightly warm to the touch and is inscribed with vague, undefined and blurry images of unrecognisable objects and beings, all blended together to form a strange flowing pattern around the armour. Despite this aesthetic design, the armour bears reminders of it's practical use in the blades that stud the shoulder plates and bracers.

"Depths of the Mind" was originally owned by a pirate and brigand of the Ethereal Plane, who used the armour's magical capabilities to move back and forth between the Prime Material and the Border Ethereal, and its ability to conjure up illusions, to catch opponents in either plane unawares. He met his end at the hands of a bounty hunter who lured him into shifting back into the Prime Material into the heart of a volcano; miraculously the azure blue armour survived and was later recovered by the bounty hunter, who discovered that the magics woven into it had somehow been altered by the heat.

  • The heat of the volcano imbued the armour with new properties, so that it absorbs the first 5 points of fire damage and the first 5 points of cold damage the wearer suffers each round.
