Astral Armour - Endless Void

Carnifex's picture

"Endless Void" was the greatest and last creation of the master githyanki weaponsmith Rakkimar, the final piece of armour he created before his death. The armour was created for the greatest githyanki warrior of that time, and Rakkimar put so much energy and effort into creating the armour that ultimately he took the step of imbuing it with part of his life force as well to create a pinnacle of his craft.

"Endless Void" is scale mail seemingly made out of quicksilver, with the scales flowing and shifting as if liquid. The only set feature of the armour is the ring of sigils across the chest; apart from this the wearer can determine the exact features of the armour just by thinking of them, and "Endless Void" will respond within seconds to flow into the new form.

"Endless Void" is mindarmour scale mail +5, and in addition it has a maximum Dexterity bonus of +5 and no armour check penalty, although it retains an arcane spell failure chance of 15%. In addition to this, it has the following qualities:

  • Three times per day the armour can exude ectoplasm to conjure up an astral construct, as per the spell Astral Construct III. If the wearer is on the Astral Plane this is improved to mimic the Astral Construct IV spell.
  • The first 10 points of elemental damage (fire, cold, acid, sonic or electric) dealt to the wearer each round are absorbed by the armour. Note that this is 10 points for all five elements, so if 10 points of fire damage and then 10 points of acid damage are inflicted, the armour will not absorb the 10 acid damage.
