Armour of the Freezing Heart

A layer of frost covers its surface. The Armour of the Freezing Heart was originally created by Lycraxx, a cleric of Auril who took the step of becoming a lich so that at the end of his natural life he could continue to serve his goddess.

Being particularly paranoid about his phylactery being stolen if he left it somewhere, he had the crystal container built into the centre of his breastplate so that he might never lose it to thieves.

Unfortunately this made him rather vulnerable if his physical form was defeated as the phylactery was easily accessible, and this proved his downfall when he was destroyed by a band of adventurers. The armour that he once wore retains much of its magical properties.

Rumour says that it is currently possessed by the Dustmen faction.

Also, the liches phylactery will store the wearers soul should he be slain and allows him to attempt to possess others as well. The Armour is full plate +3 and has the following properties:

•  absorbs the first 30 points of cold damage every round.
• grants immunity from fear and emotion spells.
• Should the wearer be slain, his soul is stored in the breastplate crystal to keep it safe for later resurrection.
• The wearer may cast Magic Jar 1/day (DC 19), with the breastplate crystal acting as the material focus.
• The wearer may cast Cone of Cold (DC 19, 11d6) and Ice Shape (as Stone Shape, except for ice) each once per day.
