Shard

Personality: Shards are the manifestation of chaotic creativity, given form by the goddess Selune. They serve her within her realm on Ysgard but also wander the Infinite Staircase, protecting the goddess’ interests. A shard is very emotional and quick to anger at any slight, whether real or imagined. While concrete facts do little to stir a shard's blood, subjective topics like art or music ignite a passionate fire within a shard -- she'll come to blows to defend her opinion.By: Christopher CampbellImported from a previous version of Planewalker.com
Physical Description: A shard resembles a human female with luminous skin, shadowy hair, and fiery burning eyes. Use the height and weight tables for a human female from the Player's Handbook. Shards do not age; they are created fully grown, and they remain at the peak of fitness unless impaired by some natural or magical force.
Relations: Any enemy of Selune's is an enemy of the shards. Likewise, anyone caught harming the Infinite Staircase becomes subject to their wrath. Shards tolerate but rarely co-operate with lillendi. Scholars attribute this to a balance maintained by the two races -- where the lillendi is rational and calm, the shard is emotional and excitable.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Lands: Shards are most numerous on Ysgard, in Selune's realm, and on the Infinite Staircase. They may also be found concentrated around places of worship dedicated to Selune throughout the multiverse (including Faerun).
Religion: Curiously, while shards are created by Selune, she does not demand their worship. It seems that religion is a passionate topic of discussion among the shards, and many different deities are embraced. (It should be noted that no god has ever refused Selune's right to change a shard into a human for an alignment shift -- even if the shard was a cleric of said god.)
Language: A shard speaks Celestial and Common, plus any other languages that may be learned due to intelligence.
Names: Shards choose both their given name and surname or epithet upon creation. Both hold great significance for the shard and provide a clue as to her personality and passionate interest(s).
Male Names: None
Female Names: Shard given names relate to topics of interest, such as music, literature, and drama. Examples: Soliloquy, Metrichoria, Cinquain, Rondelet
Family Names: Shard surnames and epithets reflect their interests or their fiery nature. Examples: Flamehair, the Ardent Poet, Passiongiver, Odeworship, Crimsonkiss
Adventurers: Due to their extremely passionate and emotional personalities, many shards that don't enter a priesthood generally become bards and wander the planes searching for centres of cultural prominence where they immerse themselves in the surrounding atmosphere.
