These alien worms hail from the Astral Plane, though from the distant past they once originated from an ancient unknown world on the Material Plane. As it is the Astral Plane that is their home, they are competing with the Githyanki. Therefore it is primarily on the agenda of the Psurlons to exterminate all of the Githyanki once and for all. Somehow they plan to do it in one fell swoop. Like their enemies they live in fortresses across the Astral Plane. However they try to keep their presence in the Silver Void as quiet as possible. Beyond the extermination of the Githyanki, the Psurlons have an apparent interest in a world known as Athas, perhaps it was their original home, or just an ancient Psurlon outpost.

Psurlons look like giant multi-segmented worms who are humanoid-like with a large circular mouth lined with many rows of sharp teeth. They have arms and legs which resemble tentacles. Their hands each have four sharp outer teeth that take the place of fingers. They can manipulate objects with these fingers much like any humanoid can. Psurlons prefer to wear robes and cloaks to cover their bodies.

The Psurlons are masters of psionics, who have over the years experimented with their powers enhancing their race. It's said that their generations of psionic experimentation which allowed them to alter their forms and their surroundings eventually leading to the apparent destruction of their homeworld. It's also rumoured that the Psurlons may be related to another worm-like race known as the Syllix, however their relation has not yet been proven by any biologists.

Psurlons can speak common to others, but among their own kind they prefer to speak telepathically or in their own language which consists of squeals and grunts.0CombatPsurlon Adepts are the results of the more successful alterations that they have accomplished with their psionic experiments upon themselves. They are stronger, faster, smarter and better than the other Psurlon counterparts, naturally becoming the leaders of their people. They can be distinguished from other Psurlons based on the fact they are larger than the others are.

Psionics (Sp): At will - adapt body, animal affinity, astral projection, charm monster, combat precognition, danger sense, clairaudience/clairvoyance, dimensional anchor, ectoplasmic armour, greater domination, know location, mind link, see invisibility, sustenance; 3/day - banishment, claws of the vampire; 1/day - mass domination. These abilities are manifested as a 12th-level Psion.Attack/Defense Modes (Sp): At will (or 3/day variant) - all/all.0Habitat/SocietyThe Psurlons are the third race that wants the absolute and complete destruction of the Githyanki, the other two being the Illithids and the Githzerai. However the Psurlons are generally reclusive, not many outsiders know of them. As most who cross their paths are usually eaten or enslaved by them. The Illithids, Githyanki and Githzerai generally don't know that the Psurlons exist, much like many other races. As the Psurlons are quite reclusive they have refused to approach any of the enemies of the Githyanki for assistance in their destruction.

They reside in secret fortresses scattered through out the Astral Plane, each community usually lead by a Psurlon Adept or a Giant Psurlon. But in the later case those communities aren't considered part of the Psurlon nation as a whole, because of the stigma associated with the Giant Psurlons. The Psurlons are said to be looking for worlds to experiment on, rule over and to raise their young, but they haven't done much yet as they are a race that thinks for the long term.0EcologyPsurlons are hermaphrodites, they give birth only once in their lives, usually with a litter of dozens. Since they live in the Astral they don't need to eat, and they don't age. However it isn't much of a concern to the Psurlons aging outside the Astral Plane as they have long life spans which go on for thousands of years.

Psurlon Characters

Most psurlons are psions, as it is psionics that is their forte. Psion is obviously their favoured class, their specialities vary all over the place though many of them like to be egotists or shapers. Many Psurlons do become Psychic Warriors as well, as it fits perfectly with their practises of improving their minds and bodies through the use of psionics. Arcane magic is not an unknown concept to Psurlons, it's just that it's not as developed as their knowledge in psionics, but many of them are working on unlocking its secrets. And finally the Psurlons do have their own gods, though they generally aren't the religious types. The names of the Psurlon gods are unknown to all outsiders, though one can generally expect a Psurlon cleric to have access to the domains of Destruction, Evil, Knowledge, Law, or Strength.0
