Planetouched, Rilminai

Personality: Aasimar are the scions of goodness.Tieflings are the spawn of evil.Rilminai are somewhere in between.

Every plane radiates something, berk, and a lot of planeborn races are more inclined to take mortal paramours than they'd probably admit. Axiomatic, Fiendish, Celestial, or Anarchic, they all spawn mutations based upon their planes. They start to make those who live on them out of beleif...the energies course through the blood of some.

There is another energy, however, the energy of Balance. It's not touted quite as much as the others, because it includes them all. It opposes all extremes, and at the same time creates them. It is the energy of Neutrality -- not the kind of neutrality that blends all alignments, the kind of neutrality that is it's own force in the multiverse, the force of balance.

And when a creature gets exposed to too much Balance, or when they have one of the balance-based planeborn in their ancestry, the result is a race planetouched by balance -- a Rilminai.Rilminai are usually fairly quiet and innoccuous, fading into the background so that they are not seen, but their actions are. They are reserved, acting only when nessecary, and commonly over-thinking even the most trivial of actions. They also seem obsessed with taking a path of moderation, nothing in excesses. If they participate in an excess, they often participate in it's opposite as soon as possible. A riminai who almost exhausted himself running might then spend a week in bed simply to balance it out. Of course, these can quickly get out of control, so most rilminai avoid pushing themselves to that point, ever. It's all about the moderation.

Physical Description: Riminai normally look fairly human, though sligtly different. Qualities such as unusual symmetry (6 fingers on each hand, for instance, or two vestitigial tails), metallic-looking skin, hair, or eyes (usually of steely gray), or a slightly feral, animistic appearance are common. Often, they speak in an echoing voice, sometimes saying things in reverse right after they said them forward (or vice-versa). Many also have a strange series of small brow-ridges, or other minor quirks, many of which balance themselves.
Relations: Rilminai, not too surprisingly, get along well with most races. Many tieflings, aasimar, rigamar, and karachlings count a Rilminai or two among their friends, and they often make fantastic moderators and diplomats, being in a unique condition to understand opposite points and come to a common ground. They are the race most often in between two enemies, helping them to come to peace, or at least to stop them from eradicating each other.

Of course, not everyone likes the rilminai. Archons, Demons, Devils, and Eladrin are four notable examples. Rilminai just find their lack of balance disturbing and their lack of tolerance frightening. At least Modrons and Slaadi can occasionally agree on something. There's nothing that an Archon and a Demon will agree on, and that unsettles the rilminai, and it unsettles the archon and the demon, too.

Alignment: Lawful Good
Lands: Rilminai have no true lands of their own. Where they arise through exposure to a plane, they crop up in the Outlands, and also in Mechanus, Limbo, Hades, and Elysium. Gate towns are often a popular birthing spot for them, as the various balance-inducing races often congregate there, to aid or prevent a town's sliding.
Religion: Rilminai are usually a bit of a dispasionate lot, so the zeal of organized faith doesn't often appeal to them. However, something often resonates with them when they hear of nature-deities, or priests who worship the balance of forces, and a few dedicate themselves to this. More often, however, you will find them dedicated to philosophies, and not religions. Rilminai are often quite thoughtful about how the multiverse balances out.
Language: Rilminai have no language of their own. However, they do tend to pick up on other tongues quite qickly, and usually will learn two very different languages. Rilminai who speak Celestial, for instance, probably also speak Infernal. And those who speak Auran probably also speak Terran.
Names: A rilminai's name depends upon the culture and plane on which they were raised.
Male Names: A rilminai's name depends upon the culture and plane on which they were raised.
Female Names: A rilminai's name depends upon the culture and plane on which they were raised.
Family Names: A rilminai's name depends upon the culture and plane on which they were raised.
Adventurers: Rilminai tend to shrink away from the extremes of adventuring life. A few may participate, when they feel that it may somehow help them balance a period in their lives, and some adventure to balance other people's lives. And some adventure for the same reason everything else does -- it's exciting, and lucrative. Of course, they usually balance it by being rather boring and living a poor life, or treating the adventure as boring and refusing to take the gold, or whatever else their balanced minds can come up with.
Racial Traits: Riminai have the following racial traits:

*+2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma, -2 Intelligence: Rilminai are persuasive and observant, but are known for being rather beastial.*Medium-Sized: Rilminai gain no special bonuses and suffer no special penalties based on size.*Base Speed: Rilminai base speed is 30 ft.*Resistances: Rilminai have fire, cold, acid, and electricity resistance 5. They are affected by things that affect outsiders, however. They gain darkvision out to 60 feet, and cannot be braught back to life without a Wish or Miracle spell.*Automatic Languages: Common. As bonus languages, rilminai can choose any two languages from opposites...Aquan and Ingan, Fiendish and Celestial, Elf and Orc, for instance. They cannot choose any bonus languages that they cannot "balance."*Favored Class: Druid. Rilminai care about the balance of forces, natural and artificial.*Level Adjustment: +1
