Babau are members of the Greater caste of demons. They spend their time roaming the layers of the Abyss recruiting Lesser and Least demons for the vast armies of the Blood War.

Babau have a predominately humanoid, though dramatically skeletal appearance. Their arms end in long wicked claws that are generally covered in a some combination of dirt, blood and decaying flesh. Babau's communicate solely through a form of telepathy.0CombatSpell-like Abilities: Babau can utilise the following powers as if they were 8th level sorcerers (save DC 12 + spell level). At will - darkness, desecrate, dispel magic, fear, fly, heat metal, levitate, polymorph self, teleport without error (self plus 50 pounds of inanimated objects).Corrosive Gel (Ex): Babaus generate a slick, dark red substance that covers their bodies. This foul jelly is very slippery and will cause all type S and P weapons to do half damage against them. This liquid also has a corrrosive quality to it, giving it two main advantages during combat. First, if the liquid comes into contact with exposed flesh , it will burn for 1d6 acid damage. Second, all weapons striking a babau must make a Fortitude save (DC 16) or be destroyed (magical weapons lose one bonus per failed save).Gaze (Su): Any creature meeting the gaze of a babau must make a Will save (DC 16) or be affected by a ray of enfeeblement, as if cast by an 8th level sorcerer.Sneak Attack (Ex): A babau can sneak attack as a 9th level rogue, for +5d6 damage.Summon Tanar'ri (Sp): Once per day, a babau can summon 1d6 cambions or 1 babau (40% success).Skills: Babau receive a +8 racial bonus to Listen and Spot checks.0Habitat/SocietyBecause of their duties as recruiters, babaus are shown emense hatred by other tanar'ri (though not as uch as is shown to members of the Least caste).0EcologyFor more detailed information, please see the Planescape Monstrous Compendium Appendix (pg. 95).0
