2016 Gaming Conventions

I know we were talking a couple of years ago about organizing some Planescape/Planewalker events at gaming conventions, but then we kinda dropped the ball, or at least, I definitely did.

BUT! In 2016 I am totally definitely going to PaizoCon. I may or may not also try to go to GenCon, I dunno yet, but PaizoCon is like for sure :o

Is anyone else going?

I want to run some adventures. I want to follow through on what we were talking about a couple years ago about organizing a whole event, like, a series of connected adventures or something. I want to talk loudly about Planescape to everyone I see. I want to rove around in a giant Planewalker posse with you guys, oh my god.

One contribution

Whilst I am unable to attend any Cons at the moment, I am working on an adventure that could be used at a convention. I'll share more details once I have completed the adventure outline.

I'll be at GenCon and Origins

I'll be at GenCon and Origins (and a few other non-gaming local conventions), helping my dad sell his artwork (and probably working on some drawings myself). PaizoCon is a bit too far afield for me, I'm afraid, but I'd be up for GenCon shenanigans.

Hey!! Just following up to

Hey!! Just following up to let you guys know I submitted my events for PaizoCon2016. If everything goes to plan, I'll be running 2 Planescape games using the Pathfinder rules; one called Celestian's Compass, and the second called Ouroboros Killer.

If anyone from around here is at the con, I also have a couple of other, smaller PS one shots that I could run privately during the con. I don't want to submit them as official con events because they're more reliant on a knowledge of the Planescape setting than the others, and because they're only written for 2 players. They are short, but more focused on stealth and investigation, so more players would really bog them down.

You can PM me here or on the Paizo boards if you're interested :) My username is the same over there.

Hello again! PaizoCon was

Hello again! PaizoCon was this past weekend, and I wanted to give a little status update on things. I did run two games, no additional pickup games ended up happening, and all things considered I think it went really well! One of the adventures I brought was a stronger game than the other, because I'd had more time to playtest it and whatnot in advance, but I have a lot of great ideas now on how to improve the weaker adventure.

Most of the players in both of my games were familiar with Planescape and excited for the chance to play in the setting again! One of the players had never heard of Planescape prior to seeing my games in the schedule, but they looked it up before the game and seemed really excited for the introduction :)

I also talked briefly with Wolfgang Baur, at the Kobold Press booth. He asked me if I was familiar with any of Kobold's stuff, I say I like Dark Roads and Golden Hells a lot, he says that's one of Kobold's older books and asks me if I've checked out anything else? AT which point I get kinda flustered, and I'm like, "oh, dude, not really no. I'm just Planescape. Planescape all the way down. I'm the weirdo running the Planescape games here this year." Then he says he noticed my games in the schedule (!) and was excited to see people running the setting (!!!). DANG IS IT LIKE EXCESSIVELY NERDY THAT I'M STILL JAZZED ABOUT THIS CONVERSATION? PROBABLY. BUT DANG. I had to excuse myself so I didn't veer too far into "thank you for noticing me senpai~~~" territory.

I ran two games because I was nervous about how much energy it would take to DM for people I didn't know, and everything, but on the other side of the con I think I totally could have done more. I don't have any cash to go to GenCon this year, and I'm probably too late to register events anyway, but I'm hoping to do both PaizoCon and GenCon next year with more Planescape games.

Boring update OUT.

Yay

Great to hear that the games went well, that you met others in to Planescape, and that you flew the flag for all Planescape fans at a major convention!
